COVID Closed Our Restaurant & Health Issues are Keeping Me Out of Work! Please Help.
My Story:
I've worked in the restaurant business for 25 years, and I'm also raising a 14-year-old girl on my own as a single mother. When the pandemic began, I was out of a job, but I had hope that the restaurant would reopen and that I could return to work eventually. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and I was laid-off when the restaurant officially closed in November of last year due to COVID. It's been really difficult to get by without working, and we're really starting to fall behind on some of our vital bills.
I've been looking for work, but I'm also suffering from nerve damage in my foot due to my diabetes, and it's made it impossible to stand for long periods of time. I can't go back to working as a server, so I've applied for short-term disability. However, it's taking far too long for my claim to go through, and I've already fallen behind on my bills as a result. Specifically, I'm behind on my phone and gas bill, and I'm worried that we'll have our services shut-off by the end of the month.
I'm terrified of the situation that we're facing right now, but I know that this help would bring us a lot farther away from the edge. It would be a huge boost to us because it will not only allow us to keep our services on, but it will also help us to get caught up on our rent as well. Once my disability claim goes through, then we'll have an easier time with all of our bills. Until then, we would be very grateful for this assistance and would like to thank everyone who helps us in advance.
