This person has left the following thank you note:

User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI would like to say THANK YOU . You have no idea how much my son and I appreciate your kindness. We have been struggling to make things work. We are each others support. I just told him that all of you have decided to help us. He thought I was lying. I showed him the letter that said you helped us. He was so happy. He said he hoped you didn't have to give up anything you want too much just for us, but if you did then you are really nice people. Those were his words. So again I thank you with all my heart for you generosity. One day I hope to return the favor.

I Became Septic During COVID. Now I'm Behind on the Rent & We're Going to Lose Our Home.

My Story:

I'm a divorced single parent with an amazing and brave son at home. He's in middle school and has struggled in the past with mental health, but we're finally getting help through the school to make sure he has what he needs to succeed. I work hard and push myself hard to take care of us, in fact sometimes I push myself too hard as I recently discovered.

The stress and anxiety of trying to make sure we always have enough led me to stop taking care of my body properly. This led to a liver problem that caused me to become septic, and I wasn't aware of how serious my condition was, so I continued to work anyways. One day my son came home from school and found me sleeping and knew something wasn't right, so he decided to take my temperature and called 911. I spent a week in the hospital recovering, and my son was with me to support me the entire time. He basically saved my life, and I couldn't be prouder of him for being so cool and calm under pressure. Being in the hospital and out of work for so long has made it difficult for us to keep up with our rent, and I'm worried that we could be hit with a pay or quit notice any day now. We don't receive support from his father or any family at all, so I'm seeking support with our rent because we have no other way of being able to hold onto our home.

I now understand the importance of taking care of myself, and I want to focus on recovering from this incident so that I can get back to working hard and providing for my son. I've never been late on our rent before, and now that I'm back to work, I shouldn't ever have this problem again going forward. My son and I have faith that there are people out there willing to hear our story and help us, and we promise to pay that help forward when we're able to. Thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity in helping us keep our home while I recover from this medical crisis.
