We Lost Our Jobs to COVID Last Year & Need Help Catching Up on Our Utilities Please!
I'm a married mother of two, but my children only live with us on the weekends. We also live with our cats who we love and care for! Unfortunately, my husband and I were both laid-off when the pandemic began, and since then, it's been difficult to get by.
My husband has managed to find work again, and overtime we've been able to just barely keep our heads above water. However, I'm still out of work because there aren't many opportunities for work where we live, especially for women. State mandates have kept us from being evicted until now, and we also recently got our stimulus check to be able to put towards the rent that we owe. However, when we approached our landlord to pay for the rent that we owed in order to stop eviction proceedings, they told us that we owed nearly $5000 for future payments as opposed to the $2000 we owed in back payments. I've never heard of a landlord asking for future payments for rent unless it's first and last month; however, we really don't have anywhere to go if we lose our home, so we're doing our best to pay what they're asking for. The problem with that right now is that we also owe money on our utility bill and are in danger of having it shut-off. Essentially, we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, and we need help freeing up enough money to be able to keep our home. Therefore, we're humbly asking for help with catching up on our utility bill.
With this assistance, we'll be one huge step closer to keeping our home and getting back on track after losing our jobs to Covid-19. I'll finally be able to rest a little easier knowing that we'll be alright going forward. I can't begin to thank you all enough for this help and for your consideration and kindness in general. I promise that we will pay this forward when we can.
