I Was Laid-off & Lost Our Savings to Two Hurricanes. Now We Need Help Keeping Our Home Please!

My Story:

I'm a married father of three children. Our two oldest children love sports and play baseball and soccer, and our youngest son loves dinosaurs. Our children are ages 8, 5, and 4 years old. Two of our children struggle with childhood apraxia of speech, and my wife is disabled due to an autoimmune disorder. I'm the sole provider for our family and was working at a local grocery store before the pandemic.

I was laid-off from my job at the grocery store days before my benefits were supposed to kick in. I was laid-off on April 9th of last year, and my benefits were set to begin on April 12th. Since then, I've been seeking employment that won't put my wife in harm's way because she's at high-risk for Covid-19. I haven't managed to find anything yet, and I'm still working hard to secure a job that won't put my wife at risk. Our struggles began when I was laid-off, but they were made exponentially worse when we experienced back-to-back hurricanes. Our savings was wiped out while trying to cope with them, and as a result we got behind on our rent significantly.

Our landlord has been graciously working with us, but I'm not sure how much longer we'll be able to stay in her good graces. We don't have much longer before we'll be forced to move out, and if that happens, it'll be difficult to find somewhere else to go. So, we're humbly asking for help with catching up on our rent please. I'm doing my best to get back to work, and once that happens, I should be able to take care of our bills going forward. My family would be so incredibly relieved to receive this generous help, and we'll never forget the people who help us save our home.
