This person has left the following thank you note:
First of all i humbly thank you all that gave! Second thank you for stopping and seeing others in need and giving a hand monetary or not you stopped and looked at people while others passed by. We forget to connect with others and reflect on times we needed help and how hard it was to put pride aside and ask, help. I thank you again for being my hand.
I'm a Veteran Recovering From Homelessness & I Need Help With a Storage Bill Before I Lose It All!
My Story:
I'm a Veteran and served for 10 years. I'm proud of my service, but since leaving the Armed Forces, I have a had a difficult life that has taught me many things about myself. Two years ago, I was a in a state of depression that took me down a dark path to a place where I was abusing substances and living without care for myself or those around me. I made two attempts on my life during that period, and after the second one, some distant family came along to take me in. From that point on I decided to get clean and live my life in service to others.
I started a free fitness boot camp where I educated the public about the dangers of substance abuse and about mental health and the stigma surrounding it. Unfortunately, my plans fell through when my mother reached out to me for help. The situation didn't turn out to be what I thought it was, and long story short, I ended up losing almost everything and became homeless for a brief period. It's taken me a while, and I'm finally getting back on my feet, but I'm still searching for work. I've been able to find a home again, but I'm having trouble making sure that all of my bills are taken care of. I'm mostly concerned about my storage bill because in the process of getting a new home and getting back on my feet, I haven't been able to pay the bill for that.
I'm asking for help with paying for my storage unit because it's set to be auctioned off. I has a lot of practical stuff that I need in there for my new home like furniture and electronics, but more than that it has a lot of sentimental stuff as well. Pictures of my family are in there and sentimental items from my childhood as well. It would be heartbreaking to lose them. It would be an understatement to say that it's been a long road back from the darkness I was facing only a few years ago, and I will never forget all of the people who have helped me on my way back. That includes all of the people who help me with this expense now too. Thank you all for reading my story and for your consideration in kindness. I hope that I can repay your faith and compassion someday very soon.
