I Was Laid-off From My Job as a CNA & Need Help Keeping My Newborn's Home!
My Story:
I'm a single mother with a beautiful newborn baby boy at home. Even though his father walked out on us a few months ago, we're a happy little family, nonetheless. My son is the light of my life, and I work hard to make sure he's taken care of. I worked as a CNA full-time for the last 6 years and am very passionate about helping other wherever and whenever I can.
I was laid-off only two weeks before giving birth to my son because I refused the Covid-19 vaccine while pregnant. I was following CDC guidelines that essentially state that it's a personal choice for pregnant women given that there isn't much know about how it could affect newborns. I was completely willing to get it two weeks later after the birth of my son, but I was still laid-off in spite of that. My pregnancy was also considered high-risk at the time, so I was worried about that as well. Now, I find myself in a situation with a newborn whose father just walked out on us, no job, and rent coming due in a matter of weeks. I have nothing coming in right now because I haven't even had time to receive unemployment, and I'm in a really desperate situation and need help with rent.
I don't have any family nearby to rely on, and with no job and no unemployment benefits, I'm terrified that we'll lose our home and have nowhere to go. I'm frantically searching for another position as a CNA, but I'm weeks away from being able to do that and will be evicted before then. I worked as a nurse for 6 years and there's nothing more that I want to be able to do besides get back to working as a CNA while also being able to care for my son. I would be extremely grateful for help that will set me down that path again. Thank you all for your understanding and support in advance.
