I Worked in a Bar Before COVID. Now, I Need Help Keeping My Heat on Please!
I'm an older woman, and prior to the pandemic, I was working in a bar. I lived almost entirely on my tips like any other restaurant worker, so Covid-19 has really cut into my income from the outset. Now, I'm out of work entirely, and I've exhausted all of my unemployment benefits. I'm in a an increasingly desperate situation, so I'm asking for help with my electric bill to help take some pressure off of me financially.
Frankly, I'm in a pretty odd and bad position in terms of my age because I'm too young to receive social security benefits, but I'm too old to be hired by pretty much anyone too. I'm having a really hard time securing unemployment as a result, and without a job or social security, I can't pay my bills. So far, my landlord has been pretty understanding, but I can't negotiate or talk to the utility companies really, so I need help if I'm going to avoid having my power shut-off.
First and foremost, I'm worried about losing my heat in the winter. It's already freezing outside, and if I lose my heat, I'll be exposed to the elements in a way that could be really detrimental to my health. This help would keep me safe, and it would buy me a little bit more time to try to work something out either in terms of employment or unemployment benefits. I would be incredibly grateful for this help, and I'll never forget the generous people who decided to support me. I want to say 'thank you' to everyone who lends me a hand in advance.
