I Was a Restaurant Worker Before COVID. Now, I Need Help Saving Our Home Please!
My Story:
I'm a single mother raising two kids, and I was working at a restaurant when the pandemic began. Like most restaurant workers, I was laid off in March of last year, and it's been really difficult to find consistent work since that happened. My children are 8 and 11 years old, so they don't really understand what's going on, but I know they can see that we're struggling. They're amazing kids and have been my anchors throughout this whole struggle.
My biggest concern right now is that we're two months behind on our rent, and we don't have any way of being able to catch up. I've been able to stretch out what little income I've been able to intermittently find, and also use a small amount of savings I had put away to deal with our expenses. However, after having to repair my car, our small amount of savings has run out very quickly and has put us in a bad place financially. I'm really stressed about being able to keep our home because evictions have picked up in our state recently, and I don't want to be evicted because it'll be hard to ever rent again with that on our record. That's why I'm asking for help with catching up on our rent, even just partially.
I'm really struggling with feelings of anxiety and depression about our situation, and I know my children can see it too. It breaks my heart because they're so young and have already been through too much for children their age. This help would bring a sense of hope back to my life that I've been lacking for the past few months, and more importantly, it would allow my children and I to stay safe in our home for the next few months while I continue to search for work. We want to thank everyone who lends us a hand in advance for your kindness and generosity in our time of need. We will truly never forget this help and will do our best to pay it forward.
