This person has left the following thank you note:
I want to take the time, to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for choosing to fund my application. I know that now is an unprecedented time of need for all, and we are all at a loss, one way or another. The fact that total strangers can come together and help support those in need is beyond my comprehension. I am sitting here in tears because I received a congratulations email notifying me that YOU are supporting me at one of the lowest points of my life, full well knowing that you may be struggling in your own way too. THANK YOU. I can't thank you enough. Please know, that I will pay this forward. Please know that I believe in humanity and I believe that we will recover and I will get back on my feet and will be able to grow from this. And your help will not go unnoticed. Thank you :)
My Autistic Son Needs Stability, but After Being Furloughed, We Need Help Keeping Our Home!
My Story:
I'm a recently divorced mommy to my 9-year-old son. He's a wonderful child who loves outer space and art. My son has autism, so we have an amazing golden retriever to help him cope with his anxiety and meltdowns. I have a master's degree in public health, and I work as a cancer researcher; however, I was furloughed for several months when the Coronavirus pandemic hit.
Being out of work for several months left us with a huge backlog of bills, and my recent divorce from my now ex-husband didn't help our financial situation much either. I'm glad to be back to work doing what I love and helping people at the same time, but I really don't have any way to catch up on the huge backlog of bills that we have. We were days away from losing my car, so I had to choose that or paying our rent, and I chose my car because I have to be able to get my son to and from his occupational and physical therapy appointments. I've had to go as far as to dip into my 401k just to take care of our internet bills, last month's rent, and to be able to put food on the table for us. I'm doing my best just to stay positive, but I'm at my wits end and am out of options at this point. I don't have anyway to pay this month's rent, and I'm terrified that I'll continue to be trapped in an endless cycle of debt and overdue bills unless I can get out of this situation now.
My son desperately needs stability, especially after his father left us, and that's why I'm asking for help with our rent for this month. I do everything that I do for the sake of my son, and I work hard to make sure that he has what he needs, but I know that we need help if we're going to leave this situation behind. I'm back to working full-time now, and I know that we'll be able to make everything work as long as we can just get our heads back above water financially. Truly, I can't overstate how important this incredibly generous help would be to my son and I. We'll be able to keep our home, and I'll be able to give him the stability that he needs in order to thrive. For that, I couldn't be more thankful for your kindness and compassion.
