I work as a Nurse. I Fight COVID Every Day, but Without Help, This Week, We're Going to be Homeless
My Story:
I'm a loving, devoted single mother to two amazing teenagers. My son is 18 years old, and he loves to make music and act, while my daughter is 16 years old and is very artistic and crafty. We're a tight-knit family, and we all love to spend time together playing with our dogs at the dog park; we've got a pitbull named Bubba and a chihuahua named Puddy.
I work hard to provide for my small family by working as a nursing assistant at an acute care hospital. I take care of Covid-19 patients in both the ICU and telemetry units. This virus has been incredibly stressful, but I enjoy the fact that I'm working on the frontlines and helping people who really need me. My job pays enough for our basic expenses, but we live paycheck to paycheck with little set aside for emergencies. So, when my dad caught Covid-19 this year, and I took him in to care for him and have him quarantine for two weeks, it was a huge blow to our financial situation. It goes without saying that I would do the same for him anytime he needed me to, but it's still been a strain on our finances. I was out of work for that time, so taking him in got us behind on some of our expenses, and I need help if we're going to be able to catch up.
Right now, we're behind on our electric bill, our car note, and our internet bill. All of these are vital to our ability to keep going through this pandemic, so I'm asking for help with all three of these. We can't afford to lose our power and internet because my kids are in school remotely and need access to their classes online. I don't want them to fall behind in school because that's the only way forward for them to have successful lives of their own. I can't afford to lose my car because I won't be able to get to work, and if I can't work, I can't care for my patients. I have been on the frontlines of this pandemic for months, and I refuse to stop now. Plus, getting all three of these bills taken care of would make sure that we have enough money to pay our rent going forward, and it will effectively save my children's home as well. We would be incredibly grateful for this help, and I'll repay it every day by taking care of the people who need me most now. Thank you all in advance for this support and generosity.
