After Working in the Restaurant Industry for 25 Years, COVID is About to Leave Us Homeless!
My Story:
I'm a single mom raising three amazing sons and one beautiful grandson. My oldest son lives on his own, so it's just me, my two youngest, and my 1-year-old grandson. In order to provide for my family, I've worked in the restaurant business for over 25 years.
The pandemic has gotten in the way of my ability to work on multiple occasions. Initially, we were all furloughed and were out of work for months. Then, they brought us back but at a reduced number of hours. The restaurant I work at is only functioning at 50% capacity, and I rely mainly on tips to get by. There's almost no business coming in, and with things starting to get worse, I'm worried we'll be furloughed again. I'm really worried about being able to pay our rent. We've barely been making it as it is, and if our restaurant closes again, I'll have to find another job, or we'll lose our home for sure. I'm searching for work outside of the restaurant industry now, but I need to buy us a little more time.
I'm asking for help with our rent in order to buy ourselves a little more time while I look for work outside of the restaurant industry. I've been working in that industry for a long time, so it's taking a lot of time and effort to find other work, but if we get a little push in the right direction, we'll make it. This help would be the push that we need, and I couldn't be more thankful to get it. Thank you so much for this help in advance. We will never forget this.
