Your decision to help my family at such a critical time means the world to me, and it will relieve so much of the stress I have been carrying throughout the challenges we have faced this year. The holiday season should be one of the happiest times of the year, but it was shaping up to be a culmination of worry and anxiety related to my financial hardships. Because of your help, this season will be so much brighter and instead of worrying each day I will be able to reflect on your kindness. I truly appreciate your help and my heart is filled with gratitude! Sincerely, Melita

I Have Six Children at Home & Was Furloughed in March. We've Been Making It Till Now & Need Help!

My Story:

I am a single mother of six amazing children. My 8-month-old twins were born on Leap Day 2020, right before the Covid-19 pandemic turned the world upside down; they are learning to stand up and they love to play! My 4-year-old son loves Michael Jackson and football; the Green Bay Packers are his favorite team. My 8-year-old daughter loves dolls, and she wants to be a baker when she grows up. My 11-year-old son loves to build with Legos and soccer is his favorite sport. My 14-year-old daughter is a wonderful big sister who loves to read and cook. All of my children love outdoor activities, and they are excited about the upcoming holidays. I work as a writer and copy editor and have been furloughed since March.

For the months leading up to the Coronavirus pandemic, I was struggling with a high-risk twin pregnancy. However, after giving birth I expected to return to my work. When the Covid-19 emergency began, all of my upcoming contracts, assignments, and events were postponed and ultimately cancelled, leaving me with no income. I receive government assistance but have fallen behind, and I am currently struggling to keep my family afloat. To make everything more difficult, I had to leave an abusive relationship this summer, which further depleted my savings due to moving expenses.

I'm requesting assistance with my rent because the cost has increased since I was forced to move out of a domestic abuse situation. My water bill is also behind, and I could use some help with that one as well. This help would bring us current, and it would keep us from losing our home so shortly after moving.

It's difficult as it is to keep things afloat with two infants and four other young children, but I have managed until now. Without the fear of eviction looming over us, we would be able to continue to live our lives as we navigate these uncertain times. Thank you all for your generosity and kindness; my children and I will never forget this.
