I'm an Essential Worker & a Single Mom. My Son Lost His Job to COVID; Now, We're About to Lose Power
My Story:
I'm a single mom, and I live with my 19-year-old son who has a son of his own. I'm an essential worker who just got back to working full-time thankfully, but my son was laid-off from his job at the restaurant he works at. Going without my income for months and losing his income has really hurt us financially speaking. We're behind on a lot of our bills and we're just trying to do the best we can to keep it together.
My son is a wonderful young man, and his daughter is the light of both of our lives. She's the reason why we can't let everything fall apart. That is why I'm asking for help with our electric bill. We have to keep the lights on for my granddaughter, and we need money to be able to afford food for her and ourselves.
We're struggling really hard right now, but I know we can get back on track with even just one of our bills taken care of. My son is trying to be a good young black man by doing what's right by his daughter, and I feel responsible as his mother to help him as much as I can. However, I'm having a hard time doing that on my own right now and that's why we need this help. We want to do our best to give my granddaughter the future that every child deserves, and I know we can make that happen if we can keep it all together. I have faith that there are good people in this world who are willing to help others, and I promise that I will give to someone who is in our position once we're back on our feet. Thank you for taking the time to read about my family and for your generosity as well as your compassion.
