COVID Cost Me My Job and Now It's Threatening to Make Us Homeless!
My Story:
I'm raising two energetic young boys all on my own. My oldest is 4 years old and just started preschool this year. My youngest son is 2 years old, and I take care of him myself at home right now due to the pandemic closing his daycare. They're both very active and are obsessed with football! I've always worked hard doing whatever I could do take care of them because they're my entire world.
Before the pandemic, I worked at the front desk of a local hotel, and I liked it because I'm outgoing and people oriented. However, I was laid-off from my job as the pandemic decimated my industry, and I had to get on unemployment. Those benefits were getting us by until they stopped abruptly. Now I'm finding myself behind on all of my expenses, and I need help if we're going to avoid eviction. I refuse to give up for the sake of my sons, so I'm asking for help with our rent in order to avoid being homeless.
Our expenses have piled up, and I'm worried we're at our breaking point financially. It keeps me up at night to think that any day now my children and I could be on the street with nowhere to go. This help would alleviate those fears by allowing us to keep our home until I can find work again. I've been homeless before, and I refuse to go back, especially with my two boys. I know that with a little help we can keep our home and get back on our feet. Thank you for giving us the hope that we need to make it through these difficult times.
