I Took an Unpaid FMLA Leave to Care For My Austistic Son and Now I Need Help with a Utility Bill!
My Story:
I'm a single mother to two children, and I worked as an essential worker until recently. My youngest is my 8-year-old daughter who is the sweetest and brightest child I know; she is very artistically inclined, and she loves to take care of our 2-year-old puppy. My oldest is my 11-year-old son who is very energetic and is as sweet as can be too. He has autism and is special needs, so caring for him has forced me to build my work schedule around his needs. I love both of my children with everything I have, and they mean the world to me. I have always done, and will continue to do whatever it takes to make sure that they have everything they need.
Until recently, I worked as an essential worker at a local grocery chain; however, I have had to take an unpaid leave of absence to care for my children while they attend school virtually. This unpaid leave of absence is what is causing my current financial hardship because we have always lived paycheck to paycheck, so any interruption is detrimental to our financial well-being. While school is in session virtually, I have no choice but to take time off to care for my son's needs specifically.
Having no income leaves me with no choice but to ask for assistance with our utility bill in order to alleviate some of this financial burden. Given the choice again, I would choose every time to sacrifice my employment for the sake of my son's educational needs. It's just the right thing to do as a mother. However, that doesn't mean that I'm not eager to get back to work. In the meantime, I have been seeking remote employment and am hopeful that will come to fruition soon. Still, I need help taking care of this bill while I work out what to do about our finances. Getting this help will also make sure that my children can continue school remotely, being that it will keep the power on. Thank you for taking the time to understand our situation and for taking the time to consider us for your donation.
