Hardworking Nursing Student Needs Your Help with Rent After Surviving Covid-19

My Story:

I am a nursing student that worked full time at a long-term care facility for elderly and disabled persons for two years. When I am not studying or working, I like to read and write. Before Covid-19, I was attending school part-time and working full-time to become a Registered Nurse. I worked nights and attended school during the day, and I was fully self-sufficient before the pandemic hit. I worked as an essential worker throughout the pandemic until I became sick in May.

Due to the number of cases passing through our facility and despite taking extra precautions, I became sick and was separated from my job through no fault of my own. I was unable to collect any unemployment assistance because my employer's stance is that I quit, but due to underlying medical conditions, I had no choice other than to take time off. I am currently seeking remote opportunities to work from home. The state subsidy I was using to reduce my tuition was cancelled indefinitely, and I will not be able to return to school. I thank God for my recovery, but I am left in a position where I could become homeless while trying to get back on my feet. I know that there are brighter days ahead, I just need a little help keeping a roof over my head.

I need help in order to make my rent, which is one month late. I was unable to make the rent this month as my savings have been depleted while attempting to secure new employment. The owner of this property, my landlord, has been vocal about evicting people without a second thought and moving in new tenants now that the eviction moratorium has expired.

I have been applying vigorously to open positions, and I have two work from home assignments set to start in October. This assistance would give me a few weeks to work with my other bills and pay down the balances for another month to get by. This help would make a profound impact on my situation which is currently devoid of hope. Knowing that there are people out there who care about me and my struggles gives me the hope that I need to keep fighting to secure my place in this chaotic world. Thank you, to each and every one of you, for giving me the hope that I need during these trying times.
