User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeThank you so much for your donation - especially during these uncertain times in which nothing is guaranteed and we could all use a little extra help and grace. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your gift will help me pay my rent and ease the financial burden I'm currently facing. You paid it forward, and because of that, I am committing to doing the same when I am in a better financial position as well. In a time when the news tells of us of everything going wrong in the world, you and your donation are a reminder of the goodness in people and bring humanity back to a hurting world. Sending love, thanks, and prayers for blessings upon you! Sincerely, Alexa

COVID-19 Has Left Me with Nothing But My Home. Please Help Me Pay My Past Due Rent!

My Story:

I'm a single female, living alone in low-income housing who has been furloughed since March due to California's stay-at-home order, which closed down the bar I was working at full-time. While I bartend to pay my bills, my passion is music production and songwriting, so I moved to Los Angeles to try to establish my career out here and work with other musicians. It's been a hard start, but I love it here, nonetheless. I also volunteer as a friendly visitor--through Jewish Family Services--to an 83-year old holocaust survivor from Romania. We talk on the phone throughout the week and emotionally support one another through the hardships of life.

During this time, I have been paying my rent and utilities faithfully with the unemployment that was being awarded, but with the recent stipend gone, I am unable to meet my rent. Additionally, I was just informed that I need to get my rear brakes fixed on my car along with a couple smaller gasket fixes which will also cost me a bit of money. I'm asking for assistance with my rent to afford me another month at my residence so that I can continue to search for work and buy myself some time to develop another plan.

The expense I am most concerned about paying is my rent. I know during this time, I am legally allowed to delay payments without penalty of eviction, but I already have debt and I'm not trying to accrue more. I've been searching for new employment but haven't been able to find work. Your help would bring stability back into my life during this time of complete uncertainty and hardship. Thank you all for your consideration and for your kindness!
