Coronavirus: Displaced Adult/ Full Time College Student Needs Help

My Story:

I am an adult (49 yrs old) returning to college to obtain my BA in Mass Communications with an emphasis on multi platform journalism, with a minor in secondary education. I wanted to obtain my degree to teach high school in an urban impoverished area. I love children and wanted to teach the younger generations. I sold my small modest house of 20 years, after my children were adults, to pursue my dream. I am living with my friend who is a teacher, and was supposed to be able to pay rent and help with household bills starting this summer.

I earn very little being a full time student.I have depleted my savings to go to college and was working for the college doing a work study job, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Due to the COVID-19 virus my college closed. I lost my job at the campus, all my summer scholarships, my study abroad program was cancelled, and now I'm living with another friend (nurse) to help her with her daughter. I need Modest Needs help to pay my car payment and a phone bill.

This funding will improve my long term situation by helping me to pursue work, and continue to help my life long nurse friend. She was switched to emergency night shifts at her hospital due to the COVID-19 virus and has a daughter I am helping watch. I cannot continue to go from my home in Huntsville to Houston (1 1/2 hour drive) to help her without my car. I also will not be able to have the ability to continue my college due to loss of transportation. So, the long term benefits of a one time funding assistance would help many people, including my life long friend, the people she helps at the hospital she works at, restore my stability, and give me the time to secure work, and continue my dream to become a teacher. I feel I will have even more to offer to the future generations after this hardship we all are faced with.
