Coronavirus: No Work, Please Help Woth my Health Insurance
My Story:
I'm a loving partner and friend and friendly neighborhood home brew shopkeeper (helping people make their own beer at home). Outside of the shop, I've been working for years as a self-employed web programmer, building websites with a focus on socially impactful organizations. I have a two year old pup, who we call the Bean because she looks like a little black bean.
Since the current economic crisis, my shop has cut the staff to only the owners leaving me without that job, and my web programming clients - experiencing their own economic troubles - have put all my contracts on pause as they work to maintain basic operations, which has left me effectively unemployed. I've applied for unemployment insurance, but as most of my income has come from independent contracting I'm not expecting it will cover all of my expenses, modest as they are. I am asking for Modest Needs' to help pay my health insurance premium, which is already one month behind. I think it goes without saying that I cannot afford to lose that safeguard at the moment.
This funding will help get me current on my health insurance costs, so I can continue to navigate my options and figure out how I can keep myself healthy and safe during this indefinite period of financial hardship. It would be a big relief to know that at the very least, if I become sick or injured, I won't risk falling further into despair.
