Hi there - I'm blown away by the quick action the community of support at MN aggregated so quickly - thank you. Helping me ending this lease amicably with my landlord not only makes sure that he gets what he is entitled to, but it also helps me continue to be able to secure housing in the future - and in Minneapolis the rental market is incredibly competitive and expensive.
Coronavirus: Restaurant Worker Needs Rental Help
I am a single worker. I used to have a great corporate job, but our division was closed about 2 year after I was hired, and I went into non-profit work. After the season of that work ended, I went back to serving and hospitality, something I'd done part time in college.
COVID-19 has not only closed the restaurant I work at, but also resulted in the delay of two other jobs I was in the process of starting. They are now postponed indefinitely. As an hourly tipped employee, this is hugely impactful. Even with paid sick time and/or UI benefits, the gap is not made up. I need Modest Needs help with my rent.
Receiving this money will ensure my landlord gets what he is rightly owed, and it will ensure I am able to rent freely again in the future. Having a negative rental mark on my otherwise clean history will present a material barrier to securing housing moving forward. Thank you.
