Domestic Abuse Victim Trying to Start Over
My Story:
I am a single female and a recent survivor of domestic abuse. I am trying to start over again at the age of 27. I am a hardworking medical assistant that is also in nursing school, trying to give my self a new chance at life. I also am helping my sister accomplish her dreams of college.
I had to completely leave the life I lived and turn it around before something horrible happened to me. I had enough of my husband's abusive ways and it came to the point where I was genuinely terrified that he would take my life away. I decided to leave but leaving in my head was easier then reality. I am now trying to obtain help with getting a divorce through Legal Aid, mental health help from a counselor at Women in Distress and getting back on my feet through my education. I need Modest Needs assistance with my rent after I had to pay for expensive car repairs.
This funding will bring my household current with all of our bills again. It will restore my sense of stability in the aspect I will still have a place at night to lay my head to rest. Once I graduate from nursing school then I will have a chance to get myself out of all the debt and to be able to save myself a small amount of money for rainy days. After the help from this grant program, I will use it as my inspiration to help others in turn.
