I am a Cancer Survivor & Need Your Help With a Medical Balance
My Story:
I am single female and have worked for non profit organizations my whole life. I've chosen this career path because it's important for me to give something back to the community. Currently, I am working part time as an EMT teaching wilderness medicine and also have another part-time job working for a local small business. I am looking for full-time employment but find it hard to make ends meet due to ongoing medical expenses.
I was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer several years ago, and I had surgery to remove the tumor. While I have been cancer free for several years, my doctors want every small unusual occurrence to be investigated. I recently had to have an endometrial biopsy to rule out uterine, ovarian and cervical cancer due to some changes in my reproductive system. I'm grateful to my doctor for their vigilant attention. However, not only is there considerable stress in waiting for lab results, but also a lot of financial stress, too. I am asking for Modest Needs help to pay for an outstanding bill for the endometrial biopsy. The amount due is the balance after insurance adjustments. The clinic where I owe the bill doesn't offer any kind of financial assistance. I'm afraid that I will be sent to collections which will cause more stress and financial turmoil. I have to have an MRI every year and the only insurance I can afford has a high deductible so I have to pay for it out of pocket each year, which contributes to my medical debt increasing.
This funding will help me get back on track. It will allow me to focus more on finding a permanent job with benefits so I can work to continue paying off other debts. Thank you.
