I'm On Unpaid Maternity Leave. I Need to Find New Work But Need Car & Insurance to Do It. Help?

My Story:

HI there! I've just become a single mother, having recently given birth to my brand new son just a couple of months ago. I've never been happier, but because I don't have any savings (I've always lived check to check), I'm about to be in real trouble, so much trouble that I may not be able to keep this job without help.

First of all, I had only been working this job for three months when my son was born. Well, like most employers, this employer doesn't offer benefits until you've been employed for six months. This means the leave I needed to have my son has been completely unpaid. My leave is going to be a little longer than usual because my son was born with a heart defect, and I'm going to have to make sure he's OK before i go back to work. And then finally, I'm being told that the union that offered me this position is going to strike within the week, so though I've already been without pay for a couple of weeks, it looks like I could be without pay for up to a month.

Right now, I'm not behind on rent or utilities. I had paid these before I had my son. But I AM behind on my car payment and my insurance bill. Normally, I'd have paid these with the second check I'd have gotten this month if I hadn't had to go on maternity leave. Bottom line: I'm going to have to find some source of income while I recover from childbirth, especially if my union goes on strike. I can't do that without a car, and I can't drive a car without insurance. So I really, really need help to catch these bills up because without that car and insurance, I just can't support my and my son.

Even though I live paycheck to paycheck, I've never been in a position like this one before, where I needed to ask for help with a basic bill, and if it weren't for my son, I wouldn't ask for help now. I'd just figure things out like I always have. But just this one time, I really need the help and I hope you'll consider helping me to give my son the start he deserves. Thank you.
