User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeThank you all for helping me and my family during our time of need and helping us get back on our feet in 2020! It means so much that you not only took time to read about our set back but also donated! I can't wait to get back on my feet again so I can pay it forward to the families at Modest Needs! This was a very humbling experience having to ask for help from strangers but I am so happy that I found this organization where giving is promoted and celebrated. Thank you again for all of the blessings of support to keep our water on and get us back on our feet. - Kelly

Water Could Disconnect For Single Mother of Two

My Story:

I am a single mom of 2 kids (age 4 and age 6) who I adopted from foster care after caring for them since birth. I am a 3rd grade English teacher at a Title I school in Austin and we have a sweet yellow lab mix, whom we all adore! Between the 30 kids I have at school and my own 2 kids, I stay super busy.

After being laid off a few years ago, I made a mid-life career change to education which was a significant salary cut from my prior job as a project manager for the past 16 years. Since teachers only get paid once a month, I'm struggling making it to my next paycheck. I fell behind on my expenses when we moved and because my car needed emergency repairs. Also, my dog had to go to the Animal Hospital last weekend and I've had extra expenses with my son's intestinal disorder. I desperately need Modest Needs help with my water bill.

If I could bring my utility bill current, I would be able to get back on track and stay current with all of my household expenses. It will also take away the stress that I am experiencing now. Thank you so much.
