I Just Started Work When I Got VERY Sick. I Have No PTO. Next Week, My Baby & I Won't Have a Home.

My Story:

I am a single mother, with a one year old. He is very active and full of energy and life. It is a joy to watch him grow and excel. As for myself, I'm currently working full time as a call-center representative to support my son and myself and I feel really lucky to have this job, since it took a very long time for me to find ANY kind of job, much less a job that would eventually give me benefits.

I had been working at this job for less than 2 weeks when I came down with a very serious throat infection. My throat was so sore that I couldn't talk. Since my whole job is talking and I was contagious, I had to stay home. I was still in my evaluation period at my new job, so it's kind of a miracle they didn't fire me when I got sick so early into the job. All the same, I haven't worked long enough for my benefits to kick in, and I lost half a month's pay. For this reason, I couldn't pay rent last month, and last week, I got an eviction notice.

This is the first time anything like this has happened to me because I'm frugal and try to be a good planner. But this the money just isn't there, and I only have three days to find a way to pay the rent. I've tried everywhere, but either I don't qualify for help or nobody has any funding because it's the beginning of the year. So this is my last hope. I realize it's not your responsibility to help pay my rent, and I'm sorry to have to ask, but I'm really desperate and don't want to end up living in a shelter with a baby. If you could please, please help us, I would be forever grateful to you. Thank you so much.
