User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI cannot say thank you enough! The tears of joy will not stop flowing since receiving this information about my application! I have never been in this low a place in my life and having not only one child but now 2 and the father does not want to step in anymore is such a hard pill to swallow. When donors like you have the compassion to give to total strangers it really shows the God in you. I was watching a sermon the other day that said we should have enough harvest so we can not only just make and survive but help others because that is the way God designed us. With this grant I can catch up on bills, focus on my new bundle of joy and work on my career so that I too can help out another family in the future because someone did it for me! Thank you thank you thank you! My heart is overjoyed and calm at this point because I began to stress and worry about our future but I kept my faith in God! I hope the Lord blesses you all in a very special way!! Thank you so much for your generosity again!

The Father of My Children Threw Us Out. I'm Pregnant, Behind on Rent, and About to be Homeless!

My Story:

I am a 33 year old single mother of one 9 year old son and currently pregnant with another son due in January. I love being a mom and my boys are my life! I'm working hard to give my sons the life they deserve, but unfortunately, I've had a setback and really need help.

I work in a salon as a licensed esthetician, and until recently, I'd been living with my sons' father. This let me take extra clients on the side while he watched the kids. Between his and my jobs, we were making it. But then, my relationship took a downhill turn, and recently, my childrens' father and I broke up. As soon as that happened, he put me and my son on the street and we had to struggle to find a place to live as fast as possible. Without my ex to watch my son, I can't take on extra clients, and my pregnancy has limited the number of hours I can work right now, so this is just the hardest things have ever been for us. I kept things going as long as I could but we've gotten behind on rent, and we're about to be evicted from the apartment.

I'm hoping Modest Needs will help me catch up on our rent so that I can have a home to take my new son to when I give birth sometime next month. The late fees are piling up, so without help, I know we're going to be evicted, and at that point, I don't know what we'll do. I don't have any friends or family who can help, and as far as living with somebody, all of my family lives a long way away.

Like I said, I'm due to give birth this month, and I'll be back to full time work within six weeks. I should be able to make it on my own during that time, and then I'll be back to work full time, without the burden of security deposits and such hanging over my head. Without your help, though, it's likely I'll be bringing my new son back to a homeless shelter. I don't want that to happen. Please help me if you can. Thank you.
