Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeThis testimonial does not even begin to show how grateful I am. If I could hug you all individually I would. It takes a special person to help out a stranger, and I want you to know that your compassion is not in vain. I intend to use this as a sign that everything will be ok and that I shouldn't give up. I guess you could say my faith in humanity is restored a little. So from this grateful stranger, from the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.

Domestic Abuse Survivor Fighting to Keep Her Children Needs Help with Legal Fees to End the Battle!

My Story:

I am a single mother of two beautiful children. My son is 9 and my daughter is 7 years old. They are such smart, inquisitive, and joyful kids. We call ourselves the three musketeers. We enjoy playing at the park with our foster dog. I work full time to support us.

My children's father was physically and mentally abusive to me when we were together. I put up with it for as long as I could and finally had the strength to get out. I accrued hospital bills and childcare costs that I could barely afford, but we escaped! Next thing I know, I got a certified letter from my abuser's attorney. The letter said that my abuser had decided to try to get full custody of our children. This left me with no choice but to get a lawyer who could fight to make sure he did not take my babies.

My abuser is doing everything he can to make sure that this case goes on as long as possible. He wants me to run out of money because he knows if I can't pay this attorney, he'll win custody of my babies. Thankfully the lawyer has worked with me and let me pay in split payments up to this point, but fees are accumulating and the lawyer stated that if she didn't get a minimum payment by the 15th of this month, she would be forced to withdraw from my case. I am afraid that if I lose her, I will have to pay a retainer for another lawyer and start over with this whole process. She has experience in violence against women and children and I feel like I need her expertise in this case.

I need Modest Needs help with this payment, I really have no-one else to turn to. If I can protect myself in court, I will be able to protect my children from future abuse. I am trying to get on my feet after years of being told I was nothing and day by day I am regaining my confidence in myself. My children deserve a peaceful home and for us to not have to worry any longer. Thank you so much for taking time to read this and help us.
