Missed Work for Blood Clot, Please Keep My Lights On
I am a divorced man that relocated to Florida from Vermont 10 years ago to seek employment. I have worked for Walt Disney World for the past 9 years and currently, I am Chef Assistant. I have worked in the food industry for over 30 years now and enjoy creating new and exciting dishes. In my free time I enjoy people watching at the parks and watching New England sports.
In May I was out of work for two weeks for water on the knee and a blood clot in my lower leg. During this time, I received no pay, and all my sick and vacation time had been used up. Since then I have taken steps to reduce my monthly expenses and reevaluate my needs and wants. I have managed to maintain my expenses except for my rent and car payments. I have been constantly behind on those two and have been unable to get caught up. I have exhausted my savings, family and friends, as well as VA support resources. This has caused great distress on my mental state. I have been unable to enjoy life as one should. I find myself hiding at home afraid to spend any money or do anything that would cause the spending of money. I given myself migraines worrying about whether my car is going to be there when I needed it, or the locks changed on my apartment. I need Modest Needs help to get caught up my electric bill.
If funding is available, it would lift the burden of my constant worry. It would help me be able pick up extra hours when available, by freeing my mind of the worry. It would also allow me to be comfortable being more social and get out of the house. Moving forward this would help get me fully caught up and maintain my expenses moving forward.
As of 2019-11-08, this application has been fully funded!
This request for help was funded at the recommendation and through the support of Modest Needs' donors.
