I Had Major Surgery then Lost My Fiance. Now I'm Behind on Rent & They're Trying to Take My Home.

My Story:

I am a divorced mother of two fantastic kids. I work in a casino as a poker dealer. In my job, I've seen some really unlucky people, but I don't remember seeing anyone with worse luck than I've had over the past few months.

It all began in August, when I got sick with what I thought was the flu. A week later, I was still in bed and feeling worse than ever, so my fiance brought me to the hospital, and it turned out that my gallbladder had to come out. Not only did I end up with a huge copay, but I lost ten days' pay in August, when I normally make more because of tips.

I went back to work just after Labor Day. I'd been back to work for two days when I got an emergency call at work. My fiance had collapsed at his job and was on his way to the hospital. I had to drop everything and leave to be with him, but by the time I got the hospital, he'd already passed away due to a massive heart attack. I was out of work for another two weeks putting together his funeral, which I had to help pay for.

In the space of just six weeks, my life was turned entirely upside down. I'm still reeling from the loss of my fiance, but aside from this heartbreak, I have to deal with the reality that all of these expenses have put me behind on rent. I've been two months behind since September & haven't paid rent for this month yet. Now, my landlord is told me that if I can't catch up completely by the 15th of this month, I'm going to be evicted.

I've been able to pick up enough shifts to cover one of the months I'm past-due, but there's no way I'll be able to get the rest of the money for that last month together in time to stop myself from being evicted. I'm not one to beg, but after everything I've been through over the past few months, I'm not sure I could handle being homeless. I'm literally at my wits end. If you would please help me to pay this one month's rent, I would be grateful to you forever.
