This person has left the following thank you note:
I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Catching up on this bill will help us focus on other things financially and get back on track. It also provides something else we needed, some peace of mind, and that is priceless. You are the good in the world and my family will always remember that a stranger helped lift us up.
Life-Saving C-Sect. Cut Our Pay in Half for 6 Mos. We Need URGENT Help w/ the LAST Past Due Bill!
My Story:
I'm married and live with my husband and our beautiful baby daughter. My husband is actually a stay-at-home dad. He's the primary caregiver for our daughter, and I work in a diagnostics lab. Like practically everybody I think, we live paycheck to paycheck and don't have a lot of money to save, but until recently, we've been making enough to live AND save just a little for emergencies. But then the bottom kind of fell out from under our feet.
Late in my pregnancy, I suffered some complications and had to have an emergency C-Section to save my daughter's life. This left me on maternity leave for a LOT longer than expected - four months! - and we were just not financially prepared to go four months on such a drastically reduced income. Somehow, though, we made it through that time, and then, JUST when I was about to go back to work, my husband broke his ankle. The injury was pretty serious, and my husband was ordered not to put ANY weight on this ankle for EIGHT WEEKS! just before I went back to work my husband broke his ankle and could not put weight on it for 8 weeks. He was supposed to be the primary caregiver for our daughter. Obviously, this meant that my husband couldn't actually be my daughter's caregiver for another two months, but we didn't have the money for me to just stay home. So, we had to hire a babysitter to work with us for 40 hours a week for two months, and all of a sudden, we went from being a little ahead of the game to being behind on almost EVERY bill we had.
Getting back on track has been a nightmare. For the last six months, we've had to sit down at the table every night and figure out what bill we have to pay RIGHT THEN to make sure we don't lose power or get evicted, and then hope we have enough money to buy food and such. Now, we're finally almost caught up, but but we have a SERIOUS problem. Next week, we have two bills coming up that we've been putting off, and we have the money to pay one of them. So without some kind of help, next week, we have to choose to between whether we keep our electricity on, or whether we keep our phone service. We really need both. We with a baby in the house, we have to be able to contact friends, family, or (God forbid) emergency services if we have problems, and we obviously have to have power, ESPECIALLY with a baby.
We've done all we can without asking for help, but right now, we don't have any choice but to hope someone will help us with one of these last two bills. After thinking about it, I decided to ask for help from Modest Needs with the phone bill because its less expensive than the power bill. I hope that was the right decision. Our whole family is so grateful for your help, and once this nightmare is over, we'll be back as donors. I can't wait to be back on the other side of this equation. Thank you!!
