I Was Diagnosed with Heart Failure. Now Thanks to Medical Bills, the Bank Wants to Take Our Home.
My Story:
I'm half of a married couple with two children. My husband works full time and does his best to provide for us while I stay home with the children.
In March of this year, I suddenly started not feeling well. I went to the doctor, who sent me to the hospital, where I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I had to have emergency surgery and ended up staying in the hospital for several weeks. We have insurance but we also have an out-of-pocket amount of $6000.00 per year, and the bills from my surgery meant we suddenly had to come up with all of this money when we're barely able to get by paycheck to paycheck.
We've been paying down our medical bills, but in the process, we've gotten behind on our house payment. We've been one month behind now for three months. We've paid hundreds of dollars we don't have in late charges, and the bank is now telling us that if we can't catch up within 30 days, they're going to accelerate our payments. If they do that, we'll lose our home, and we can't afford to lose everything we've put into this place.
I'm here today, hoping and praying that Modest Needs will find some way to help us catch up on this one mortgage payment. Your help would save our home, keep our family off the street, and allow me to continue to heal because I'm still not out of the woods with my heart yet. Thank you for anything you can do.
