This person has left the following thank you note:
After breaking my back trying to make an extra paycheck so that transitioning from one job to the other wouldnt cause me to lose my apartment, the check I was given bounced. I was later told there was fraud involved. The bank wouldnt help and told me to go to the police, who told me to go to the bank. Ive always worked hard for my money and Ive never needed help before. Im the one who helps everyone else. I was lost. I approached a couple places for assistance and was told exactly how I felt, Im able to work so go work. I was working, but nearly $1000 in the hole all of a sudden was beyond a strain. I dont even remember how I can across modest needs.org, I just remember feeling desperate and terrified Id lose my home. Thank-you all SO much. I cant even express the relief I feel knowing Ill be able to keep myself and my home afloat. Now I can keep my apartment, which means my boyfriend can still comfortably have his kids on the weekends. I can still have a place to come home to. His children can be happy and comfortable with us, rather than either missing us or having to spend time at their another relatives home. You have all touched a lot of lives in this one contribution. Ill never be able to fully express our gratitude. Thank-you.
My Paycheck Bounced Then My Employer Disappeared. Without Your Help We'll Lose Our Home!
I am a single female who lives alone and works hard. I was working full-time plus overtime and driving for Lyft, tutoring, being a non-official taxi, and doordash to take care of the people I love and care for.
While I was working full-time training at my new job, I also started cleaning a building for a private citizen since I knew I'd need the second check to make ends meet. He paid me for my work and the check was cleared and released 10 days after mobile deposit. I immediately used all of the money to pay bills. Everything was tight, but fine. In May, 52 days after the check was deposited, THE check suddenly bounced. The bank charged me the amount of the check plus return fees. I cannot get in contact with the person who paid me and the bank won't talk to me except to say the person is claiming fraud. I had to make a police report after this. Now, I need Modest Needs help with one month rent since I don't have any savings set aside.
This funding will help me keep my home and bring me peace of mind. I have nowhere else to turn to, and assistance from kind people like you would mean a world to me. It would allow me to see there are kind people in this world, and not all ones who wold do this to me. Thank you.
