User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeWords cannot explain how thankful I am to receive this assistance. I do not normally ask for help because I really don't like asking for it since it makes me feel vulnerable. I was unsure if I would receive enough donors willing to help us so I am very appreciative for all of you! You have given me hope towards my future and being able to get back on my feet financially and emotionally. This help will allow us to start moving past everything that has seemed to fall down on us because of my diagnosis and treatments. After knowing that there truly are amazing people in the world, I hope to one day be able to pay it forward to others in need like all of you have done for me. Thank you so very much! With love, Nicole

We'd Just Gotten Married When I Found Out I Had Cancer. Chemo Put us Behind On Rent. Please Help!

My Story:

In July of last year, I was lucky enough to marry the love of my life. Like all newlyweds, I think, we're working hard trying to build our lives so that one day we can have children. I work two part-time jobs, as a server and a caregiver. My husband works part-time as a server as well while he looks for full time work in his field. Money is tight, but so far, we've been making it. Or we were making it, until I was suddenly diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, just two months after we were married.

After I was diagnozed with cancer, I needed to go through chemotherapy treatments. During this time, I was unable to work and we ended up getting behind on some of our bills. We paid what we could with savings and a little money here and there from friends, but now, those resources have been exhausted and while I am back working part time, we are trying to catch up and stay caught up on our monthly expenses. We've got almost everything under control except for our rent. We've been at least a month behind for more than a year, and our landlord has been more than patient with us. But he has to have his money and is now threatening to evict us. I'm honestly not mad at him. I understand where he's coming from. But if we get evicted, it'll take us forever to save up enough for first, last and security on a new place, and it'll be hard to find a place anyway if we're evicted. This is no way for a marriage to start, and I don't know what we're going to do unless we can find some help.

I read about Modest Needs and am hoping you can help me & my new husband with just one month of rent. If you can help us with that, we'll be able to stay in our home, I can finish my recovery, and we'll be back on track. We've been through so much already in our short marriage. If you can please help us just keep our home, I'll never forget it, and when I get well, I'll be back to help as many people as I can, I promise. Thank you.
