I'm Fighting Breast Cancer. Please Help Me to Afford Reconstructive Surgery.

My Story:

I am a breast cancer survivor and single mother of a beautiful daughter. My daughter is living at home while going to college and maintaining a 3.95 GPA. I work as an Administrative Assistant in a large school district and was previously an elementary school teacher.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2016. Although, I currently show no evidence of disease, the effects of treatment are never ending. There are long-term medications, additional surgeries, and permanent side effects to manage. Insurance helps, but there are high deductibles to meet. I am requesting Modest Needs' help to pay the surgeon for the most recent reconstructive surgery. Losing both breasts to cancer takes away a part of me that will never be the same. Reconstruction and revisions help women like me to feel as normal as possible.

For me, the effects of cancer will never end, but this funding will help to ease some of the financial stress. Most of my income goes to medical bills and college tuition. The rest pays living expenses. I do not live an extravagant lifestyle, nor do I go on vacations. I simply need some short-term help for this part of cancer treatment.

As of 2019-07-28, this application has been fully funded!
