I have been trying to pay for the Prism-Eye-wear totaling $1500 total for a year now. Living without them has been difficult, especially for reading and driving, it makes me physically ill. I am a 57-year-old Junior in College; your thoughtful support will help me to be able to complete my journey. Thank you so much.

College Student Needs Help With Special Glasses Out of Pocket Cost to Help With Veritgo and Sight

My Story:

I am a 57 year old non-traditional college student that is alone in the world. Right now, my primary focus is completing my bachelors degree at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. I am currently a Junior majoring in Integrative Studies with concentrations in Criminal Justice, Public Health, and Communications. My beautiful parents who were my eternal safety net died while I was in prison. In my spare time I like to bake cookies.

I have just successfully completed my 15-month parole after serving 58 months in prison. I was assaulted in prison and received a permanent head and eye injury. While in prison I received reconstructive Eye Surgery, however the constant pain and swelling persists daily. Upon my release I was sent to an Eye Specialist that determined that I require eye ware with prisms which are not covered by my insurance. I have been paying since October, and still owe funds before I can receive my Prism-Eye Ware. I am asking Modest Needs for help with the purchase of these. Without them I have serious vertigo that makes it difficult to read my assignments and to drive the 26 miles to school. Although I have maintained a 3.61 GPA, I have missed classes because I was unable to drive with my serious bouts of Vertigo. I am trying to make a difference with my fresh new start.

With this funding I will be able to successfully complete my education. I plan to work for a non-profit helping returning citizens successfully re-enter society. I will be starting my internship this fall doing just that. Your help would really mean so much to me. Thank you.
