User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeWhile it is sometimes difficult to raise a child with special needs it is also very rewarding. Our son has surpassed many challenges and has learned to love school. We appreciate the kindness and generosity you have shown to enable our son to continue to attend before and after care at his school. The before and after care program is an excellent source in his continued quest to develop his social skills. May God continue to bless and keep you all!!!😇

Please Keep Our Autistic Son in After School Program

My Story:

I am a married mom of a ten year old autistic son. I work full-time as the registrar for a local school district and my husband is a school teacher at a local school district. Our son is on the high-functioning end of the spectrum and loves anything affiliated with music and words.

We live paycheck to paycheck, but make enough to pay for our basic expenses each month. My husband's pay fluctuates because he is a 10 month employee and is paid hourly. He doesn't get paid when the school is closed for snow days, etc. His fluctuating pay makes it very difficult to budget each month. We have a car that needed work on the motor to enable my husband to travel to and from work each day. This got us behind and now we need Modest Needs help to pay for our past due child care bill from the previous school year. We were blessed to find favor with the program director that our son was not removed from the before and after school program to enable us to continue to work.

The funding will bring our child care account with our son's school district current and enable him to attend before and after care for the 2019/20 school year. My husband is currently seeking a 12 month salaried teaching position for the new school year. I am nearing the end of a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy in which I am scheduled to begin a Practicum/Internship in January 2020. Upon completing this, I will be able to obtain more gainful employment as well. Your help would help us so much more than you will ever know.
