Teacher and Single Mother Needs Fence For Autistic Son
My Story:
I am a divorced, single mother of three amazing kids. My 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter love to swim and play outside. My oldest son attends college away from home full time. I have been a full time elementary school teacher in the public school system for 17 years.
I have sole custody of my 3 children and am paying all of the bills and expenses on just my teacher's salary. I am living paycheck to paycheck. My youngest son has autism and receives weekly therapy. The medical costs are very expensive and I struggle just to make ends meet. It has been suggested by my son's therapists and doctors for me to install a fence in our backyard to help keep him safe from wandering away. I am desperately asking Modest Needs help to fund a fence for our backyard. It is important for me to get a fence installed in our backyard as a way to protect my son by eliminating ways for him to exit our home, and he truly enjoys being outside. I don't have any extra money in my budget to pay for this much needed fence.
I am frightened that my son will wander out of our yard and become lost, injured, or worse. He has a history of bolting. I have just applied for a part time job for the summer hoping to earn some extra money to set aside for future needs. Your help would make a long-lasting impact on our family. Having a fence would help keep my children safe while also providing my family with peace of mind. I truly appreciate your consideration in helping my family out in this time of need.
