This person has left the following thank you note:

User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI would like to say thanks to all of you from my little family to you and yours. These acts of generosity and love have made all the difference in my life. Things really could have taken a turn for the worst. Although life is not perfect, I will be able to sleep better knowing that there are people in the world still that have enough love in their hearts to help a total stranger and his child. That tells me that perhaps each one of you have had a similar situation where you realize without a little bit of help, things would have gotten way worse. Regardless, of why you all helped us, just know that it will be appreciated more than you know. I said WILL BE appreciated because this is an action I plan to carry forward, hopefully more sooner than later. I feel good knowing that I can continue to work hard knowing I wont be working in vain, I will be making progress. That is again, thanks to you all. Have a good day and continue being who you are. Please and Thank you!

Missed Work for Mental Health, Please Help With Deductible

My Story:

I am a Peer Recovery Coach at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. I have turned my life all the way around in order to save my own life as well as contribute to saving others from the disease of addiction. I was blessed with a baby boy this past January, for which I an extremely grateful. He gives me life and a reason to keep on keeping on. I am with his mother and though things are not perfect, we are doing wonderfully raising our child together. I'm looking forward to starting my Human Services/Addictions Counseling degree in the spring. In my free time I enjoy walking through the woods and looking at constellations with my son.

Mental Health has always been an issue for me. I got clean off the drugs and honestly, did not pay much attention to the mental health aspect of my holistic health. My little brother overdosed after 11 years clean and spent the last year of his life recently dying in a nursing home. In the interim, I also lost at least 5 other close friends all too overdoses. The pressure and stress and guilt of changing my life caused me to essentially shut down. I sought help through therapy and plan to continue using my coping skills and healthy mechanisms to prevent this from occurring again. I need Modest Needs help with my car insurance deductible which i cannot afford at this time due to time off of work.

If I can get last month's rent paid, the three paychecks I receive in the month of May will have my son and I caught up and a little ahead as usual. I'm attempting to start school back up and would like to have all expenses in order so I can focus on that. I'm forty and would love to be able to continue turning my life around to show my kids that 'things happen' but you have to continue pushing through. I would like to be able to feel accomplished and not scared of coming home to my stuff being thrown out in the street. My son does not deserve that. I have no one to turn to for help and am grateful that places like this exist. This little boost could really help me get back to even with my life financially and emotionally. Thank you for your consideration with this matter.
