Please Help With Lab Testing Cost
I am a 28 year old freelance journalist, transitioning to creative writing and poetry. I grew up in Pakistan and came to the United States for college (UPenn) when I was 19. I then went to Columbia for my journalism degree. The past year of my life has been incredibly difficult. I had to go through a painful surgery, I was grieving over the loss of a loved one, I had major depression and I was exhibiting neurological symptoms. The sorrow of last year brought about a massive perspective shift for me and I realized how precious life and time is.
As I was pivoting to my new career, I got diagnosed with Lyme disease. My neurological symptoms had existed for 3 months prior, but it took a lot of testing (MRIs, scans, bloodwork) to reach the right diagnosis. I live paycheck to paycheck and have no savings, paired with some student loan and credit card debt. My Lyme symptoms have made my life difficult and have hampered my ability to work. I am still working and fighting but, sometimes, I need to take entire days off to manage my pain. I am asking Modest Needs to please help with my Laboratory bill so I can afford to do tests and ensure that I am not carrying any other tick-borne disease apart from Lyme.
This testing will allow me to know whether or not I am carrying another infection/illness. Ticks carry multiple parasites, bacteria and viruses that they can transmit to humans. Lyme is just one of them. Knowing my status means that I can take whatever action I may need to take for my overall health. This is an investment into my health, without which I can not do anything. Please help me.
