This person has left the following thank you note:
There are not words that I am aware of that can express the gratitude my family feels for the kindness people have extended us. Thank you. We had given up hope of any outside help or 'small miracles' coming our way. Suddenly, one morning an email arrived stating that our goal had been met. I don't remember the last time a stranger, let alone a group of them, went out of their way to give so much. This not only helps us keep a roof over our head but gives us a much-needed break from the endless worry that comes with making ends meet. Thank you.
Help Family With Special Needs Children Keep Home During Job Transition
My Story:
I am a married father of one boy and one girl. Both children have Autism Spectrum Disorder and have spent a great deal of time learning, reading and improving their fine-motor skills. They attend our local public school and several special programming schools, and both kids are absolutely in love with the world of Super Mario Brothers and monster movies. We also like to spend a lot of time at the local nature preserves spotting animals.
I worked as a Disability Benefits Specialist until November of 2017. When that work ended due to restructuring of the program, I was offered other work as a special projects specialist that relied on funding by grants. That funding has dried up on several occasions, forcing me to switch to other projects to help get us by. This cycle prompted me to go back to school to get more opportunities. I used my savings to support myself and my children while going to school for a MS degree in Nursing. After liquidating a small retirement savings and working on grants as much as possible, we were able to get by on a tight budget. Luckily, I have now been offered more hours through a new job that begins this month. This will offer full-time work, benefits, and shall not be running out of funding in the foreseeable future. I am asking Modes Needs to help me and my children with one month of rent which we got behind on due to loss of hours.
Losing our home with special needs children would cause us a great idea of stress. I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and this would not be great for my emotional stability. Your help would provide us with a roof over our heads during this transition of jobs. This funding would allow us to focus the money from my wife's earnings on our other bills to be caught up and out of 'emergency mode' so that when I graduate we can have a chance to focus on moving forward.
