My family and I have been very stressed for the last 30 days, not knowing how to pay my rent or electric for next month. I live check to check and my lease is a monthly lease. It has always been important to pay my bills on time, but not being able to do this is very stressful. I thank you very much for your help. This will help us get back on our feet through these tough times. Kim

TSA Employee Needs Rental Help After Government Shut-Down

My Story:

I love the outdoors and kayaking. I live with my partner and she is on disability and unable to work. We live in Punta Gorda, FL and love to fish in the backyard. We have 2 parrots, who love to talk.

I have been working for TSA for 7 years, and currently with the government shutdown, we haven't been paid for days worked after 12/23/18. We are required to report daily to work due to we handle airport security at Ft Myers airport. We were thankful to have Harry Chapin food bank supply us with some food to help us out today in Ft. Myers. I live check to check and can't work a second job due to the high demands of my TSA job and odd hours that we work. We earn enough to pay the basic house costs and transportation each month. I travel 30 miles each way to work. My rental lease is month to month, and I don't have enough money to pay my rent and electric this coming month.

I fear being evicted from my trailer. This grant would help my household with the 2 most important things; a place to live and keep warm during these cool nights. Your help would be very much appreciated and relieve the stress we are currently dealing with day to day. The government shutdown has taken a large toll on moral at work and we still try to keep smiling, even though there is no end in sight with the politicians fixing the problems.
