This person has left the following thank you note:

There is no way for me to express what your help means to my family. It seems we are barely holding it together these days. It helps my heart to know someone cares. I was doing my morning devotion and praying this morning before getting ready for work and decided to check on our status and was totally amazed and humbled to see we had reached 100%! God is so good and answers prayers through all of you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! With sincere appreciation, Jill and family

Teacher and Single Mother of 3 Special Needs Children Needs to Keep Lights On

My Story:

Our family consists of three courageous kids and myself, their mom. I am a teacher working full time to support us. Each of the three of my children were adopted from foster care and various trying/traumatic situations. My youngest was born prematurely and had medical complications. He was severely neglected and almost died as an infant. He has cerebral palsy, Noonan Syndrome, GATAD2B related disorders and aortic1 related disorders. He also is nonverbal and g-tube dependent. His brother and sister made the same commitment I did when we chose to make him a part of our forever family and are amazing siblings who do everything they can to help him be the best he can be and to help our family make it from day to day.

My youngest's scary genetic diagnoses came within the last couple of months, another blow to our family in what has been a very difficult year. About this time last year, I received a call from my mortgage company informing me that my mortgage payment was about to almost double as a result of my flood insurance increasing almost 500% along with a slight increase in taxes and homeowners insurance. We were making it on a tight budget already. We were not in a position to handle that type of monthly expenditure increase. I tried (and cried) for several months trying to work with my mortgage company and insurance company, and even writing the federal government, to try to come up with a way to work through this. I was told FEMA had to raise premiums to pay for all the hurricanes and flood damage the previous year. My mortgage company requires our property to be insured at full replacement cost and would not make any accommodations on how or when that must be paid, etc. After several months of trying to figure something out, we came to the very painful realization that we will have to sell our home (the dream home I built to raise my family in and live in forever). I made a little extra money by painting window art and selling it for Christmas. It is not enough however, and we need Modest Needs help with our energy bill.

With all the trying and juggling to pay bills and make sure the water and power stays on while keeping a roof over our heads, I have a disconnect notice on my Power bill that must be paid. Your help with this bill will give me a chance to take a breath and to feel like someone outside our little household actually understands and cares. It will give me an opportunity to make sure other bills are paid this month and our kitchen has food for the month.
