Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI want to say a sincere thank you to everyone that gave to my request for help. I went to logon and start e-mailing all my friends and family (asking for help can be very hard especially this time of year) and saw that my request had already funded! What a wonderful Christmas present! I went from depression at spending my holiday time right before Christmas being worried about saving my home to a feeling of relief and gratitude. I know now that I can catch up on my mortgage, so I was able to spend time with my mom helping her and enjoying still having her here this Christmas. I don't know what the future holds, but I feel less alone just knowing that there are still people out there who care enough to help a stranger. I am inspired to pay it forward and make my own very small donation to someone else who needs help. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and I hope all of you have a peaceful and happy holiday season. Gay

Missed Mortgage Payment After Vet Emergency

My Story:

I am a single 57-year old woman who has worked since I was 15. I was the first on my the paternal side of the family to receive a BA and I graduated with honors after paying my own way by working two jobs. My strong work ethic is thanks to my Dad, a 20-year Army Vet who served in the Korean War. Sadly, he passed 25 years ago. After 30 years in advertising I own a small home and I have a senior kitty I adore. My sweet mom is very ill and though I try to see her when I can but I currently work nights as a production assistant and during the day I often work a second job as a research subject or focus group participant.

I live paycheck to paycheck and make enough to pay my basic bills. Unfortunately, my hours at work continue to be cut and my second job has become the difference in my paying the mortgage. In the past year I spent my savings on numerous emergencies but an emergency vet bill for my now diabetic cat is the one that hit the hardest. My kitty is 16 and had been in remission for over two years and she suddenly became very ill - I almost lost her. I missed the warning signs of her worsening health problems, due to worrying about my mom who has recently had two strokes and a heart attack. I need Modest Needs help paying a late mortgage payment.

I have worked very hard to buy and keep my condo for nine years. I am worried I may lose my home as I will get further behind on my payments and may go into foreclosure. Since I am already struggling emotionally with the illness of my mom and my sick kitty losing my condo would be devastating. Your help will bring my mortgage current and me financially stable. Knowing that there are still people in the world that care about helping others will make me feel less alone during the holidays and raise my spirits.
