This person has left the following thank you note:
You made the final stretch of my year memorable and I cannot thank you enough for your solidarity with my family and I. I'm not completely out of the woods yet but I'm sure most hopeful now than when I first started to ask for your support. My gratitude is one my kids won't ever understand and now, they won't have to either. Thank you and God bless you all this upcoming holiday season!
Help Veteran and Single Father Stop Electric Shutoff After Health Issues
I am a single veteran and parent of four with my two boys living with me and my eldest daughter returning home from an otherwise toxic relationship. My younger daughter presently lives with their mom in Tucson but I remain heavily involved in her life. When we are together, we spend time playing video games, watching TV or YouTube videos and go to the gym, movies or parks. My eldest and I work together at a call center in separate mortgage servicing companies plus are both pursuing higher degrees in college. I am studying psychology.
We make just enough together to support ourselves but are living pay check to pay check. This is after I nearly died from a severe ketoacidosis episode shortly after Memorial Day weekend where I learned that I'm a type I diabetic. My recovery time took me out of work well before I began to accrue paid time off and as a result, I had no savings to manage my utilities and rent for several months, thus falling behind and playing catch-up ever since. The combination of all these events require me to ask for Modest Needs help with my electric bill.
Your help and support will restore my ability to balance my bills and duties at home now that I accept my new life as a diabetic. I am more than ever committed to providing a bright example to all my children. My eldest daughter returned home with the purpose of supporting my goals as well as her own. I believe that this will provide reassurance to my younger daughter in Southwest USA that I'm equally committed to her. Personally, my doctor advised me to minimize my stress to prevent another episode and your help will go a long way, if not guarantee that and preserve my health so I can be there for my kids as well. Thank you.
