This person has left the following thank you note:

I found out about Modest Needs thru my job.I applied 9/20/18.Just found out this week we will be receiving help.Since my husband's surgery it has continued to be a rough road to ride on.We are now 2 mnths behind on rent.We can not seem to catch up & get ahead to rebudget. With a 20% wage levy & not being able get county help has been a huge struggle on top of his recovery it has been stressful & depressing not being able to fulfill your families needs it is scarey.Getting this GOOD news is overwhelming, amazing & we are so grateful that complete strangers have opened their hearts to us.Our family would like to say thank you to everyone's donations and hugs from a far.

Unpaid FMLA Due to Husband's Open Heart Surgery, Need Rent Help

My Story:

I am married with 3 children. I work full time doing self pay collections for a local hospital and I enjoy playing volleyball. My husband loves to sing and cook. We have a 9 year old daughter who loves to sing, dance, science, crafts, baking and cooking. We also have twin 17 year old young men. One son is in soccer the other is in swimming and they both are in track. They want to become famous You-tubers.

My husband was admitted in the hospital 6/13/18 for heart and kidney failure. They sent him to U of MN on 6/18/18 to be evaluated for Left Ventricle Assist Device, but found out we were out of network. Then he was admitted at Aurora St. Luke's Milwaukee, WI and was denied to be a candidate to be evaluated for the LVAD so compassionate care was the next plan. Since then we have been admitted and bounced around to many hospitals. Finally he had open heart surgery on 8/3/18 and we needed to stay close after discharge, lodging through the hospital for upcoming committed Dr. visits. He was cleared to come home 9/5/18 but he was still on 30 day 24/7 watch. I needed to take a unpaid FMLA throughout this whole process which caused a strain on my budget. We need Modest Needs to help pay rent.

There was no way to plan this, to save money or prepare in any way. We will of course want to remain current and in a positive rental history to keep a roof over our family of 5. There is not a lot of help through other local resources due to this medical situation. When we are able to become stable again and moving forward I would like us to help others in need; what goes around comes around.
