Single Special Ed Teacher Needs Rental Help After Brother Rushed to ICU

My Story:

I am a single woman in my 40's, with no children. I went through a divorce in 2016, and had to live with family members for a full year afterwards due to financial constraints. I was finally able to rent a small home last year, and have been very happy here, although living alone has definitely been an adjustment! I have taught Special Education for 13 years, and truly the value the time I get to spend helping students grow, no matter their disability or limitation. They inspire me! In my free time I love to be with family (especially nieces and nephews), garden, play piano, sing, and write, among other things.

I am blessed to teach Special Education, and to be in a field with job security. I do live paycheck-to-paycheck though, and do not have emergency savings, as I am still recovering financially from my divorce. Additionally, I still have student loans to pay, and have had some other recent setbacks. I live modestly, and drive an older car, and unfortunately in June I had some unexpected car repairs. Additionally, on June 16th, my younger brother (who lives 1200 miles from me) was admitted to the ICU with an unexpected heart arrhythmia that nearly took his life. Family gathered due to the uncertainty in the first few days, so a last minute plane ticket and trip had to be pulled from my already stretched budget. The cost of the trip has put me in an unexpected financial bind for the coming month. I need Modest Needs help with my rental payment.

This assistance from Modest Needs would keep my rent current, and would free up those funds to use towards other bills, giving me breathing room for the coming month as I prepare to start the 2018-2019 school year. I am working towards building up my savings, and hope to have additional income from a second job in the near future, with a few potential opportunities on the horizon. I have never asked for help of this nature before, from anywhere, and I am humbled to have to do so now. This hand up would be so greatly appreciated, and I look forward to opportunities to do the same for others when my situation allows.
