Single Mother Needs Help With OverDue Bill After Son Dealt With Mental Health Issues

My Story:

I am a single mother to a teenage son. In 2017, I became a Provisionally Registered Sign Language Interpreter, which means I can now legally work in the state of PA while I practice for part II of the NIC certification. I am a Support Service Provider for DBLWS (Deaf Blind Living Well Services). My son is 17 years old and has a great big heart. He was diagnosed with ADHD in 2005 and is now struggling with depression.

I only earn just enough money to pay my current bills. My son's father stopped paying child support a few years ago and stopped seeing my son so it has been my sole responsibility to care for him both emotionally and financially. Teenagers are not cheap. His appetite alone puts a strain on my bank account. I signed up for a 4-credit class at CCAC in the Summer of 2016. Right when I was about to start the class, my son attempted suicide. My whole world as I knew it turned upside down. I never attended the class, and to be honest, I completely forgot about it until months later. I received a letter from admissions stating the instructor informed them of my non-attendance and to pay the balance due. I tried explaining my situation to them and even filed an appeal and attached the letter from my son's psychologist, but t it was denied. I need Modest Needs help with this overdue balance which has now gone to collections.

Your help will instill in me a desire to go back to school for a few classes to help me pass the NIC Interview & Performance Test, as well as earn a certificate in Court Reporting, which can be used for CART services (Communication Access Real-time Translation), and will help my career. With the bill taken care of, I will not have to worry about my credit being affected. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
