Please Help This Single Mother of a Newborn With Rent After Unpaid Maternity Leave
My Story:
I am a single mother to a beautiful newborn. She is about to be 12 weeks old and has completely stolen my heart. I currently work as a school counselor in an inner-city high school. Although it is a tough job, I love working here and I recently got to see hard work pay off at their graduation ceremony. I also coach volleyball and love to stay active and healthy.
I generally live paycheck to paycheck and when I found out I was pregnant, I started saving as much as I possibly could. I did not qualify for FMLA and my school does not provide any sort of paid maternity leave. I was able to scrape by on my savings until I returned to work 7 weeks postpartum. I missed a total of 3 full paychecks while on maternity leave. When I received my first paycheck after going back to work, it was much lower than it was prior to my leave. I do not have any more in my savings and cannot afford to pay some of my essential bills. I am requesting that Modest Needs' please help pay my rent. I do not have enough to pay rent and child care for the upcoming month, and I need to pay child-care to keep my job. I am a single mother and I worry that if I do not pay my rent, my newborn daughter and I will not have a place to live.
This funding would help tremendously because it would allow me to continue to pay for child care costs as well as everyday costs like diapers, food, and gas. Receiving your assistance would help me more than I can put into words! I work with families every day to help provide them assistance and the time has come that I myself, need some help. To be honest, being a single mom has been the most challenging thing I have ever done and I would love to know that there are people out there that are willing to help and support. I hope that one day in the near future, I will be in a position to help someone else out.
