I Lost My Job At Christmas. I'm Back To Work Now But I Need Help Paying Rent.
I am a 39-year-old single man who recently lost my job of 17 years just before Christmas. In the 17 years I worked there, I never missed a day of work and worked 40 to 60 hours faithfully each week. The job had been my first job out of college, and losing it was devastating emotionally and financially.
I had been saving up my paychecks for a car, as I had been without a car for about a year. When I lost my job the week before Christmas, I found myself having to dip into the car savings just to pay rent. I applied to over 300 jobs, and finally got a position in a supermarket in late March and was working part time for several weeks. I am now working full time, but cannot seem to catch up because of landlord late fees. I do not want to be evicted. I am asking for Modest Needs' help getting current with my rent.
Your help will stabilize my finances and allow me to get back on my feet and save again for a used car to make the commute to work easier. I really do not want to lose my home. My only option if I lose this apartment to eviction I fear would be to pack my belongings up and move across the country and move back in with my parents. At 39 years old, this is a setback I am crushed to imagine at this point in my life.
