Wow! My wife and I are so so thankful. We were feeling a bit skeptical at the beginning of this process with Modest Needs because donations were coming in slow. When our family picture posted we noticed a bit more of an uptick in the number of donations but still not enough to where we thought the application would be fully funded. The last two days were a big surprise, thank you, everyone. What happened to my wife is absolutely horrible and we wish it would never happen to anyone. Thankfully, there are still many good people out there like yourself who will go out of their way to help someone even though they know very little about them. Please Help This Burn Survivor Overwhelmed By Medical Bills
My Story:
I am married to my beautiful wife and we have two happy and healthy children, a three-year-old boy and an eight-month-old baby girl. We love spending time with our kids. I work full time as a federal employee with the National Labor Relations Board, and my wife stays home with the children.
In February, we experienced the worst day of our lives. As I was driving home from work, my wife was cooking dinner. A horrific accident happened - a grease fire. Boiling oil got on her and she was engulfed in flames. She was treated at the Arizona Burn Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Her abdomen, both arms, and the front side of her legs all the way down to the bottoms of her feet had second and third-degree burns. 45% of her body was burned. She was in an induced coma for 5 weeks and went through 11 surgeries. We are insured with my work, and our standard health plan is thankfully covering most of the medical expenses. We are a low-income family with no savings. We are requesting Modest Needs' help with one of the medical bills that we have received.
Your help with this bill will go a long way. It will save our credit by avoiding late payments, and it will also free up funds for us to pay for other bills. The road to recovery for my wife and for our finances will be a long one. But we know that we can make it with kind people like you along the way.
